Shoulder Blade Compression Roll – Exercise against neck pressure & tension headaches

If your neck is burning, your head is throbbing, and everything in your upper back is tense, the pain rarely originates in your head itself. Almost always, the cause lies deeper: directly under the shoulder blade.
This creates trigger points that act like a switch, sending pressure to the neck and even up into the head.

The Shoulder Blade Compression Roll is a targeted recovery technique that works precisely where it's needed, deep within the muscle-fascia area. It's not a superficial massage, but rather real pressure on the point that triggers the tension.

Why this exercise works

  • Releases stuck trigger points on the shoulder blade

  • Reduces neck pressure and tension headaches

  • Improves mobility of the shoulder and cervical spine

  • Calms overstimulated nerves through targeted pressure relief.

If you sit a lot, exercise, or are under stress – this exercise is a must.

What you need

ChiroGun ball or fascia ball
wall or floor
2-3 free minutes

This is how you do the Shoulder Blade Compression Roll

1️⃣ Find a position
Stand with your back to the wall and place the ball between your shoulder blade and spine (not directly on the bone).

2️⃣ Build up pressure
Lean back slowly until you feel a clear pressure point. No running away, just embrace the tension.

3️⃣ Breathe & Hold (20–40 sec.)
Breathe in slowly. As you exhale, sink deeper into the ball.
The point needs to "work" – slightly uncomfortable, but no panicky tension.

4️⃣ Micro movement (optional)
Move your arm overhead or behind your back – the fasciae open up through the movement.

Pro tip with ChiroGun

Use the ChiroGun massage gun at a low frequency (level 1-2) immediately after applying pressure to the same area. This soothes the irritated nerve and prevents muscle resistance.
